With new Canadian office expected to spur growth, Pittsburgh-based tech firm hiring locally

Accion Labs, a Pittsburgh-based technology firm working with technology companies and IT groups, said due to its expansion to Markham, Ontario, it will hire 10 to 12 employees in Pittsburgh over the next 2 years.

“The news for Pittsburgh is that it means we’re hiring people in Pittsburgh to satisfy those demands,” said Tony Kernan, senior vice president of global business development. “We continue to be proud of the growth of Accion across the world.”

Accion, founded in 2011, has two main service offerings, Kernan said. It helps staff other companies and it helps them build products.

Due to the new office location in Canada, the Pittsburgh location will need to hire at least three people for recruiting.

“The hub of our recruiting efforts is in Pittsburgh,” he said. “We … will use Pittsburgh recruiters to source, find, screen, qualify and recruit talent that will be placed at companies throughout Canada.”

Other new hires will include technology leads and delivery personnel working out of Pittsburgh.
